Core Services are delivered through a range of platforms to include remote meetings; via Zoom, telephone or face to face.
Talk2Grow children and young people counselling service caters for year 6 primary pupils and secondary school pupils (10 - 18 and up to 25 years for looked after children).
Our service specializes in counselling young people through issues such as bullying, low self-esteem, identity issues, low mood, exam stress, family bereavement, illness and peer issues. Additionally, we recognise that when young people display challenging, risky or violent behaviour there are often underlying causes including adverse childhood experiences and trauma.
We provide a safe, confidential, therapeutic space for talking through and making sense of traumatic or difficult experiences and strong associated emotions. It includes:

SHORT TERM: 1-2-1 counselling for 50 minutes over 6 weeks.

MEDIUM TERM: 1-2-1 counselling for 50 minutes over 12 weeks (1 school term).

LONG TERM: 1-2-1 counselling for 50 minutes for 1 year.
Our approach is integrative, using talk, play and other therapeutic techniques and tools. Pupils and students are empowered to use their voice to tell their story, manage emotions and behaviour and reconstruct a positive sense of self. The Brief- Solution Focused approach is used to facilitate navigating challenges, alongside future hopes with improved mental well-being.

Talk2Grow Family Plus intervention is designed to work with young people and their families who experience additional challenges. We aim to rebuild positive relationships. Our approach through an intensive programme over 8 weeks:

We join with the young person and their systems (family, friends, professionals, other) giving voice to their qualities, strengths, aspirations and future hopes.

We work collaboratively with the young person and whole family to facilitate insight into the functional difficulties.

Provide evidenced based tools for improving outlook on sense of self, identity, communication, parenting, family functioning and mental well-being.

Empower young person and family to access local services to enhance sustainability.
Our services are inclusive for young families from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, we provide a culturally sensitive service for families with African Caribbean Heritage (ACH), who experience additional disadvantage.
Our Talk2Grow mentoring service, empowers pupils and students from disadvantaged backgrounds to overcome barriers to fulfilling potential with improved mental well-being. The mentoring specialism includes: Mental Health with university students who meet the disability student allowance (DSA) criteria for Student Finance England. Our approach and service includes:

Our specialism is applying therapeutic informed tools within the relationship and work to promote balanced mental health.

Each student is provided with 1-2-1 mentoring based upon individual need for average 60 minutes per week.

Each university student is provided with a minimum of 60 minutes 1-2-1 mentoring in line with their specific difficulties and disability support allowance criteria.
Our clients range from secondary schools, looked after children (LAC), virtual schools, university students who have experienced being in care or those who have specific learning difficulties (Sp.Ld).
Talk2Grow Key Note Speakers:
The Keynote speaking service comprise of vocational experts, young people and adults on diverse topics.
A key subject for 2024 and beyond is to address the discussion of purpose, the significance for people of faith, women, and marginalised communities to include those with African Caribbean heritage.
Young people key note speakers give voice to exceptional and inspiring stories of having overcome barriers to potential. They offer hope for today's youth generation, families and professional in social, health care and education.
Themes: purpose, gang life, imprisonment, teenage pregnancy, drug dependency, mental health difficulties, school exclusion, youth offending, family breakdown, life in care and stories of faith.
